UNESCO has recently given special recognition to the Uilleann pipes as an important symbol of Ireland’s heritage. It therefore seems appropriate that we give centre stage to the Uilleann pipes and the contribution one of our best local players, Finbar Mc Laughlin, has made to the devleopment of this unique instrument.
Finbar Mc Laughlin is a former All-Ireland champion piper, founder member of Na Píobairí Uilleann and skilled Uilleann pipe maker. This event recognises Finbar’s contribution to the development and promotion of Uilleann piping in the city.
We will be joined for this event by fellow musicians and friends of Finbar, including other Derry champion pipers.
